Acer Iconia make new tablets with quad-core

Jim Wong, president of Acer, said in an interview with T3 tablets that are a fundamental part of its strategy. In addition, the executive "confirmed" the arrival of new models Iconia Tab with Nvidia Tegra 3 processors, quad-core in 2012.Tablet da Acer (Foto: Divulgação)

Wong was not adamant about the new Iconia Tab A510 and A700, but let it slip that, in the two models, "the stories are true" (various rumors circulated on the Internet in recent days). Both models should take 3 Nvidia Tegra processors and will be very similar. The only major difference in favor of the A700 is its considerably larger screen resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels, compared to more modest resolution of 1280 x 800 of the A500.

Processors Nvidia's Tegra 3 offers four cores and performance promises to be close to many desktops and laptops on the market today. The official presentation of the models should occur in January and sales are planned for the first half of 2012.

The new Iconia Tab will run Android Ice Cream Sandwich and will hit the market soon after the Asus Prime Transformer. According to Wong, Acer understands the tablet market as fundamental "and continue with a very aggressive stance on this front." Acer was one of the first manufacturers to launch Android tablets with Honeycomb and will be one of the few companies to produce and sell significant numbers of tablets with Windows 7.
